ORIGINAL, UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT
In the quest to find unique things, I often wonder what is really unique in performers, creators and artists I admire. Is it the fact that they are true to themselves and their own beliefs? Is it because they make an effort to stand out and be different on purpose? Is it more important to be original, unique or different? This excerpt from Difference and Repetition by Gilles Deleuze is an interesting way of starting this dialogue and thinking about these ideas. It inevitably all boils down to the age-old question we all go grapple with: what is really important to you? All these ideas end up falling in place when you have the right answer.
