As many of you know, my last show, The Hope Theory, chronicled my experience as an immigrant in the United States. My story focused on this experience and its unseen side, which I believe is rarely discussed.

I have made a few—actually, more than a few. The problem is not making mistakes but not learning from them. Little mistakes can significantly impact the desired outcome when you play with illusions.

Every time I create a new project, I wonder what emotional impact it has on the audience that experiences it. True, I like to meet people who attend my performances right after the show, but once you exit the theatre, your emotions are different than when the dust settles down.

Whenever I perform, whether a private event, theatrical run, or an immersive experience, I make new friends with audience members who attend the performance. It usually starts with an intriguing invitation or a gift they purposefully crafted for me.

The actual value of anything is hard to define. That answer might change depending on who you are, your values, and your life goals. What if you don’t necessarily have a goal?

There is always a bittersweet quality to a closing night. On one hand, it closes a cycle and allows you to be free for what lies ahead. But on the other hand, something you’ve poured your heart and soul into might never see the light of day again.
